Smile King Charles Spaniel

undefined

My 7 year old female King Charles has in the past six months started to put on weight. There has been no change in her diet, she eats one meal a day of dry food, approximately 3/4 cup. She has three treats at lunch time and we go for two long walks each day. She is active, although just recently went through a spell of lethargy, which she has now come through. I just wonder if this is a sign of aging. My other concern is that I understand that this breed can suffer from heart problems, although her vet has never detected any.

May want to discuss with your vet, could be thyroid or diabetes. Not sure really.

Perhaps either that or now at an age where the diet needs to be changed to a lower fat content.
