Catnip and Kittens
What's a good age for a kitten to try catnip?
Scully has her Caturdays of catnip and Mulder also known as Bonkers seems to be very curious about it I haven't given her any because I'm not really sure if there are age risks (I don't think so but still better make sure). She's 4 months (almost 5 )

No age risks with catnip. However, most kittens don't really become receptive to the effects of catnip until they're a little older. My 2 didn't react to it until they were about 4 1/2 months, but it varies with each cat. Try it and see!

, We gave Sweet Pea's litter of kittens (7 of them) some catnip at about 4 months old and it was just . They went wild and we had to separate them because they were getting too rough with each other

Just an FYI - I have some cats now who could care less for catnip. Even in their adulthood. Probably 3/4 of my cats will express great interest in it. The other quarter sniff and walk away. Dart, my youngest, goes absolutely mad for it and has since he was around 3 months. Slobbering, the whole messy bit.

Well I tried it like 3 mins ago and she liked it but she sneezed most of it again I had to give Scully a tiny bit. Now they're wrestling haha
Another question how often is healthy to give them catnip. I've heard once a week and that's what I do, I only pinch the catnip and give it to her (well now both) How much do you give your kitties and how often?

Well I am no specialist, but I used a catnip spray to get my kitties to quit scratching on the (furnished rental furniture) not ours, but to scatch the tree we got them.. and to my amazement it WORKED!! I also got them some catnip mice, which they love.. Chloe actually plays fetch with them, either till she loses it, or I can get her to forget about it.. (it does get tedious) my point is, my older cats in the past never wanted anything to do with catnip, at all and these 2 love it, but then again maybe they dont even notice it at all.. I dont know Sorry still no idea why my photos are upside down.... |
