How 'bout if your pup didn't come from a rescue, but you rescued it in the "I'm taking this puppy from you, you terrible, neglectful person, before she dies, and not taking "no" as an answer " kind of way?

Would that count?

Oh......rule # 1 disqualifies the Coop. But can I get rescue points for him anyway as he was a gift from hubby who wanted to heal my broken heart after my rescue "angel" (far from being an angel) Joey went to the bridge. Joey was re-rescued every day since he was a grumpy guy and everyone thought we should just get rid of him or put him down. But we loved the daylights out of him and made sure he never had a chance to be grumpy with anyone else. (By that I mean never let him have a chance to growl, or bite someone who would make it an issue and cause us problems)

Past rescue points? Pleeeeease ??

Cuz other than that we are so in. Supporting rescues, holding the couch potato title, we're there for all the rest !!

How about SCKC???? ( Second Chances Kennel Club)

Im working on the papers now, and some better rules. I will post them.
Also, I dont know how im going to know for sure if people are "paying their dues"??? Should I make it a one time donation requirement? with more "points" for your dog if you donate yearly?????

Oh... and I need a logo... I tried with photoshop and managed to make a circle.... " whoot, im a genious" lol

Heres what I have so far....

1- All registered dogs MUST be spayed or neutered ( no exceptions)
2- Proof of spay/neuter must be given.
3- No litters shall be registered, UNLESS, the litter was a result of a pregnancy prior to rescue.
4- Any litter awaiting registration will not be accepted until spayed or neutered
5- In order to remain registered, each member must either, A- make a minimum donation of $20 per year to a rescue in their area (or donate toys, blankets ect). Or B- volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year with a rescue. ( foster homes will be exempt from these dues as long as they have not gone a consecutive year without fostering or volunteering)
6- General competitions will be held randomly, with no competing for points, because if you are UHKC registered you're already a champ... so put that in front of your dogs name immediately
7- Purebred, hybrid (designer, mutt, or mixed breed whatever you wish to call your dog) all equals in the kennel club. No discrimination
8- There are no breed listings, only characteristic listings. (Ie, couch potatoe dogs in a class of their own, agility nuts ect)
9- Characteristic titles can be achieved through various contests.

Add on if you like.

Yay we're in !! And we want to compete for a title in "doggies who believe that they're really little boys" category.

This should turn out to be the most widely regarded kennel club ever. Someone needs to call The Today Show.

How do we prove our dogs are spayed? Would we have to scan and post our dogs' spay/neuter certificate, or vet papers that have the "spayed/neutered" option checked off?

This sounds like it will be fun!

But how would that work for females? Try to take a picture of their surgical scar?

Sounds like a good idea, too bad Rule #1 disqualifies all of mine  I will stand back though and cheer you all on. I always thought it would be nice to allow mixes to compete in something.

for Erykah

We want in! Sydney got an "S" tattooed on her belly when they spayed her, would a pic of that work? Great idea, are you going with "Unknown Heritage Kennel Club"?

Bobby wants to start an eating competition - he knows he would win. Amber wants to have a triathalon - swimming, fetching and loving being the three parts to it Shadow wants to have a "shortest tail" competition - but I have to warn everyone, my three would each win their respective events

2 more for you here, Missy got spayed twice (they should have put a zip in), they couldn't see the scar after they shaved her so had to open her up before they found out they wern't the first. Riley, well if he had a brain he would be dangerous let alone man lumps
I can't help thinking what life they had in the pound so I always find myself buying things for these two and donating them straight away to the rescue, there are some pound mutts walking around with $30 collars on while my 2 don't wear there's any more. And if I get a toy for them, I always buy 2 and donate one. I did give a mountain of food after Prins idea of the free coupons but I ended up having to drop it of at a local vets and have heard no more from the local rescue .
We are still working on what they might be, Riley is probably Wolfhound/Shepherd and Missy Chow/Beagle type hound but we call them 'puredog' if anyone ask's the breeds. Where is this club going to meet, were in.

Love it! I think that's perfect.

A logo....how about a heart with a stylized paw print in it? That way, it covers dogs and cats....a head would limit it.

Oh, I really like the idea of calling them "puredog" and "purecat" for breed.

As a friend says when someone asks what her dog is...she says, "brown".

Yay, my three certainly meet the solid gold membership criteria.

I propose the following ability/agility competitive events:

> to snout out the smelliest, muckiest thing and cover oneself in it
> to sneak or outright steal food
> bed-hogging
> showing of toofies
> volume of shedding
> bath avoidance
> getting in the way and generally underfoot
> camoflaging or hiding oneself whilst grinning willfully and ignoring all Mummy's calls and pleas for obedience
> adopting the "No, I will not and you can't make me" look and stance
> sloppiest kisser
>oddest sleeping position
...and the list goes on.

I'm not crazy about the acronym but, how about a name variation using Forever Home Rescued and Adopted Club ? I like the Idea of getting rescue and adoption to the forefront in the name. Great ideas as usual Erykah ! Clearly, you should be freer with your "brain farts" more often !

Any updates on the status of this "kennel club"? I really like the idea. Has a name been decided on yet?

Im sticking with the Unknown Heritage Kennel Club. UHKC!
Everything else when googled comes back as something.
I have most of the package made up, authentic "papers" but still need a logo for it.
I suck at photoshop.
Anyone has any ideas or examples for a logo, feel free to chime in.

But things still are coming along nicely, just a little more work than I anticipated.

Yay! Sable can't wait to be UHKC registered!

I hope someone will have a good idea for a logo. I'm sure there are some artistic-type people on the forum who could help!

You had to mention mutt ears! I'm kinda obsessed with dog ears. So soft and funny! My avatar has mutt ears now, poor sable got bumped out. (But I love her ears too! She doesn't have proper collie ears at all!)

Cooper can't WAIT to be registered with the UHKC. He wins the "sneaking your butt across the property line to poop on the neighbors lawn" event. (He actually squats on our side and then tippy toes in that position until his bum is over the line--he thinks he's sooo slick )
