Aw... Poor Rocky. The diagnoses are always the hardest part eh. Hopefully you can get it all figured out. If its the arthritis thing (sorry I have no idea about the thyroid stuff), ask the vet about Traumeel drops, Fagan was taking them for soft tissue injury but they are also for arthritis. ( I give them orally mixed with water with a syringe) I know we tried everything under the sun for skin...and just lucked out I guess with the right combo. Hope Rocky is back to good health real soon Chico.

Dahmer thank's,nice to hear from you
The arthritis(sp?)is something the vet brought up as a possibility,I have not noticed anything wrong other than his weightloss is more noticeable in the backleg area.
He still runs up the stairs after doing his thing in the litterbox downstairs.
I am going to give everything a rest for now,see how CPietras friends cat is doing after beeing zapped.
I'll keep checking his weight, any more weightloss and something else will have to be done.
Oh,Oh how did you end up with SIX cats?? Stupid question maybe

I think List said it best...they saw that 'sucker' written on my forehead. And I swear those cats are so smart.... I think the strays were bussing in their friends from other neighbourhoods before I moved, seemed to be a new cat or two every week. I guess news of a free buffet travelled fast in their little community. I just hope that someone took over for me. Poor babies, I hated to leave them.

Furbaby Momma,thank's for asking!
He is doing good,he does ot seem to have any problems, eats(a lot)drinks pees and poops normal
I am mostly concerned about his weight, hopefully he'll gain some..
The vet said, she likes to keep all cats at around 12lb's which to me was a stupid thing to say,all cats are different!
Rocky was a barnkitten,BIG paws and big all over, not fat!
Chico is 16lbs but definetly also not fat,Rocky always was 16lb's +now he's 12,7lb's

Hi Chico. I just wanted you to know that Bailey went in yesterday to get zapped. When my friend put him in the carrier he went straight to the litter box and sat their. The vet decided to work with him in the litter box so that he was not stressed out. My friend was with him for the whole time. She even helped with shaving poor little Bailey. He now will stay at the vets until next wednesday. The vet will be emailing her pictrues everyday so that she does not miss him....so far so good.A success

Zapping the thyroid

Hi Chico2--not my present cats but a previous cat developed hyperthyroidism at the age of 12--she had no symptoms but on annual checkup she had a very fast heart rate(well over 200),blood work proved it.I considered pills, surgery then opted for radioactive iodine. At that time it was not available in Ontario so she went to Mt Clements Michigan.(my vet said the procedure was non-invasive except for the pocketbook)--this was a few years ago and I think it cost $800.US.Anyway she stayed there 10 days, came home and we kept her away from kids for another 2 weeks. She did well and lived to be 19 years old.Every year she had lab work to check her thyroid levels.
I hope your Rocky does well.

F-M,thank you,but at least I don't have to deal with foodpoisonings, cancer and other terrible things happening right now.
Rocky is fine, his regular sweet self -3lbs,in the future I just have to make up my mind if putting him through the trauma of zapping is something I would chose. The vet thinks he'll do fine to continue on a very small dose of meds.

Rainbow,if it was Vinnie(17,4Lb's) losing I would go YAY!!
But Rocky needs every pound he can get, weightloss is one of the symptoms of Thyroid problems..but let's say YaY anyway

FBM,sweet is not how I would describe myself, but you are sweet for thinking I am

More info Chico....Bailey only got one shot between the shoulder blades and that was it...the stuff will slowly kill all the bad thyroid stuff. Sorry don't know the techno terms..but they fed him tuna for the forst night and he was in heaven He's doing really well and he gets to go home on thursday. In a few months he'll go back to get retested to see if the levels are ok...so far so good

My friend was impressed at how simple the procedure actually was.
