A little late, but here's my intro...

My name is Alyson and I am a very proud pet owner. Currently I have my 13-year old tuxedo kitty, Nanuk. Yes - I know "Nanuk" means "Polar Bear" in Eskimo. When I adopted him his name was "Bear" - I liked the name, but wanted to add my own touch, and since I grew up in Canada's Arctic I thought that "Nanuk" was fitting (even though my kitty is mostly black).

The reason for my adopting Nanuk was because I had a beautiful short-haired tabby "Oracle" who I felt needed a buddy while I was working 2 full-time jobs. Sadly, Oracle passed on last April (I still get a lump in my throat just thinking about my good old big boy). It took me a while to recover from losing my friend of 14 years. Finally I decided I was ready to get a buddy for Nanuk. I looked at other kitties to adopt, but I found myself making too many comparisons to Oracle. In my eyes he was the perfect cat. Don't get me wrong - I love Nanuk, but you know there's always that one special pet that steals every inch of your heart - Oracle was also with me through a very difficult divorce. He was my rock.

So, along with Nanuk, we now have a 12-week old Shih Tzu cross. What a handful!! I grew up with a dog and 2 cats, so a dog in my home isn't compeletly unknown territory, but I never did the actual raising of a puppy. Wow! Talk about teaching an old dog new tricks (yes, I'm talking about me)!

I'm so glad I've found this forum - it's helped me in so many ways!

Crazyforcats, yers,I see you already have 17 posts, but still,Welcome to the Forum.
Sorry to hear about your Oracle,I think we all have one animal, even if we have several, who is especially close to your heart.
I love all 3 of my cats very much, but my tabby Rocky is my soul-mate even though he has and is causing me problems.

During Oracle's last 3 years he had kidney disease, so I was administering medications and sub-q fluids regularly, along with my daily poop-patrol since he decided he would use the litterbox on select occasions. He was a handful by the end, but I would have kept it up to the ends of the earth for him.

Here is Nanuk (hiding) and Roxy (puppy).
[Next post will be Oracle]

Thank you so much Prin. I miss him greatly! I cried for days before and after his passing (I'm even tearing up now...)

Adorable puppy and such handsome kitties . So sorry to hear about Oracle. I too had a cat that truly touched my soul and even though I love my current cats to no end there is an extra special place in my heart for him. I think it had a lot to do with him being my very first (without family) pet.

Welcome aboard! You have a beautiful fur family. Puppies ARE a handful! I raised 2 that are 6 months apart. We had gotten one trained, and then decided to do it again! ha! No more puppies for us... I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your kitty. He is pretty.

Welcome Alyson,

I am so sorry for your loss of Oracle. I understand your feelings completely.

Congrats on the addition of Nanuk and Roxy. What a lovely fur family you have. Yes, puppies are an adventure, aren't they? I'd love to see more pics, especially as Roxy gets older.
