I have an AKITA

HELP !!! about 2 weeks ago my AKITA twisted around and her knee went out. When we took her to the vet she did a complete exam only to say she had arthritist and she appears to be quite healthy for an 11 yr old....HOWEVER she went from 97 lbs to 81 lbs since her last visit....about a yr ago...NOW she will not eat a thing....no dog food, no cat food, not even her favorite biscuits ...all suddenly changed the day she got hurt....any suggestions.... I am calling the vet in the am....but I can't bare to watch this lovable dog starve.....

i'm sorry to hear about your girl's troubles... unfortunately only a qualified vet can help you at this point. you may want to join the Akita forum for member's advice and experiences http://www.network54.com/Forum/187550/ BUT you must bring your girl to the vet asap. have complete blood tests done to rule out any thyroid issues, kidney disease, diabetes, etc. good luck and please keep us posted... nice to see another akita lover on this forum! (i have two!)
