I need help re barking
Sam has been doing great lately except he barks when no one is home.
hes not allowed to bark in the hosue when im home, we hush him any time he tries, tho honestly he hasnt tried unprovoked[read me not teasing him] in over 6 months today my neighbor complained that he was barking when no one was home. how do I stop this behaviour if im not home to correct him? he has his kong and several toys, I leave the tv on for background noise most the time I come home and he is dozing in my bed to be honest. anyone have any thoughts?? thanks Eleni

I would find out from your neighbour how often he does this, when it started, how long it continues etc. Find out as much info as you can. What kind of home are you in?

I would also tape him.. You can get little tape recorders that only record when there is noise. My neighbors said that Boo barked all day, and I taped him and he didn't. I heard more of the neighbor's dog on the tape than Boo.

hmm i never thought to tape him.
this is a neighbor whos played metal music in the middle of the night and ive complained, so it is possible they are complaining just to aggrivate me. im leaving for the day on saturday Ill set up a tape then and see what Sam does. I honestly dont see much reason he should be barking, he has the 3 cats he gets along with well, toys, a warm bed, the tv on. He should be happy as far as I know
