And he's off....!!!

Who knew a 13 year old husky could run so fast? Yesterday, my old Siberian Husky, Mathieu, was in the back with my brother and when my father came home through the garage door and didn;t relaize the side garage door was open, Mathieu escaped and took off down the street!
We live near a moderatley busy intersection and he ran all the way up the street to the intersection, with my brother and dad running behind him! They had to stop traffic on the street to get him back! And, my dad said Mathieu would not come when called - he just thought it was a game of tag. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it was quite surprising that he would not come when called back (especially considering he's such an old guy and not supposed to be that fast anymore - it must be the new food I have him on ).
This just goes to strengthen my opinion on huskies that if they get more than about 50 feet from you, their trained behaviour to come back fails (we once had the same situation with our last husky).
Any thoughts??
