female betas
Can 2 female betas be kept in same tank or are they aggressive with one another like the males are?

Hi there,
Female Bettas are not aggressive towards conspecifics in the way that males are. Occassionally some females will fight a little, but on the whole they are mostly peaceful towards each other. Introduce all the females into the tank at the same time if possible. This will prevent any territory aggression. Many females can be kept together. It is commonly called a "Betta Sorority". ![]() |

female betas
Thanks for the info. My neighbour gave me a beautiful pink/rose beta (kids got bored with her) so put her with my guppies and everything seems fine - no aggression - so I thought I might add another female. My tank is so colourful, canary yellow male guppy, navy, burgandy & silver guppies and this beautiful beta.

Are you sure this is a female as they are usually fairly plain.

Agree with Stacey, female Bettas are usually very dull looking, and are usually more of a "purple" colour. If the fins are flowey, and the fish is quite beautiful, then you most likely have a male. Placing another male, or even a female, in the same tank will result in a HUGE fish fight. It's not pretty to watch and can end in both fish dying.
