I need to figure out how to record phone messages ASAP!
So every once in a while, while Mrs. Schwinn was on mat leave with Maddy, she'd have Grace call and leave a message. Right now, I have 14 voice mails from her, some over a year old (no, I could never bring myself to erase them, and yes, this is why Mrs. Schwinn calls me the Big Marshmellow!). Anyone have any idea how I can record them? Ideally, I'd find some software to do it with my computer from home.
Help! I'd done as of noon tomorrow, and I REALLY want to save these!

Schwinn if you have a voice mail system that saves them this is what I would do..I would go in as if you were checking the message...you know when it tells 7 to erase and 9 to save...well if you hit 6 on your phone pad you can forward them to another phone...(at home)...once you hit 6 it will ask you for the phone number to forward to and you will put in your home number including area code...it will then ask you if you want to save or erase again..
See if that works?

To access, I call into the voice mail same as from home. Unfortunatly, I can't forward the messages, and I think it's because the voice mail system is different than home (I have Rogers at home).
What I can do is I have a headset phone at home, I'm thinking I can plug it into my computer there. But then I need a way to record it. The other option is to call in with my computer, but again, I need software for that. I will be truly bummed if I lose those messages...

Schwinn, we recently had a need to do just what you are trying to do. Roomie's mom left the cutest Easter message on our voice mail. Fortunately, our playback device just plays it, no headset needed. We used a microphone connected to our XP machine, aimed it at the speaker and used the built in sound recorder to tape it. It saved it as a .wav file.
I am not sure how or if a headset will work, but maybe an external microphone aimed at the ear part of the headset??? If you have XP or Vista, both have Sound Recorder - real easy to use. Let me know if that works or if I can help with the sound recorder part. Diane
