Chi barking at other dogs

My 8 month old Chihuahua has recently started barking at any dogs when she sees them (on leash). I know this is a trait for small dogs, and chihuahuas especially, but I don't want it to become a problem.

Its difficult to train her while on the leash outside because she is quite nervous and therefore not interested in any treats or toys as a reward. I don't mind her barking but I want to ensure this doesn't progress to the point where she becomes one of those little dogs that turns into a piranha anytime someone or something comes into her sight.

Up until a few weeks ago she was happy to wait patiently and greet any dog with a wagging tail and curious nose. She still reacts the same way when a dog is close enough to interact with but if they are approaching or walking away, or across the street she barks at them.

I have made socializing a priority since we got her at 10 weeks. She's completed many puppy obedience courses, been taken to many different friends houses with and without pets, accompanied me in to stores, long walks in different environments, etc

Does anyone have any tips to ensure this doesn't progress any further?

A good gentle method I saw used once was that if when you are approaching another dog and she barks, immediately turn around and walk the other direction, and approach again once she is calm.
Continue this process until you get to the dog silently. This method is probably best to do with someone who has a dog and is wiling to work with you and have patience to work through the first few sessions.

I have a min pin who had the same issue.

My remedy is to continue to walk with her in high concentration people/dog walks. It desentized her to this behaviour over time. Was not a quick fix and still requires minor correction. This correction is not brutal. She wears a halter. If she starts, I gently but briskly pull the halter using the leash attached (obviously) and give the command 'sit'.

There are many things that can be done to help her with this. Not all are done as she sees the dog or person either. It would take me days to type it all so let me tell you where I learned most of the methods that I use and swear by. I have two chihuahuas who are very high spirited and know exactly what you're going through.
I watch Cesar Millan "The dog Whisperer" on National Geographic Channel. Look into this show he has exc ellent methods and really makes you understand your dog's body language which is key to stopping problems before they start!
Hope this helps! Good Luck
