Unhappy Rocky WAS missing

I had a lunch date with a friend, hubby went outside with the cats.
When I came back,he could not find Rocky
When I am outside with them,I always know where they are,I still don't trust them 100% not to jump the fences, but hubby does..
Anyway,I go in to total panic mode, went in to Baileys backyard,my neighbors backyard,no Rocky...all kinds of things go through my head,I am ready to cry..

I call and call and then I hear a weak meow,he was sitting on our front-porch terrified, all puffed up
I suspect he jumped after the Calico that visits ever now and then and then did not really know where he was.
I know my cats body-language,I know if the beautiful Calico is around, but hubby is not as observant...did I get mad at him,no,I found Rocky and he's never jumped in his 13yrs....but there is always a first time.

So glad Rocky was a smart boy and stuck around the house

No need to get mad at hubby...I am sure his heart was in his throat the whole time Rocky was MIA. Nothing you could say or do would make him feel worse and I suppose the lesson is learned.

Enjoy your cuddles tonight!

I hate when my cats do that!!! Maxwell will sneak out and run around and come back all poofed up. Then I yell at him about why would he want to go outside so bad when he always gets scared!!!

Glad he didn't go too far though though and ya got him back!

Oh Chico I know that feeling all too well. It's the most horrific feeling in the world (short of a missing child).

We had a huge scare with Finn the first weekend after we moved into our new house (only 3 weeks ago). She was missing for 16 hours and I thought she was gone forever. She had snuck out the door behind me when I went onto our deck and then she got shut outside and hid under the BBQ until Nathan found her 16 hours later. I had posted Missing Cat posters all over the neighbourhood.

I'm glad you found him safe and sound. I'm sure hubby learned his lesson

My ex accidentally left the front door open once and one of my cats got out (Teddy RIP). I was beside myself and ready to murder the ex. He had never seen me that livid. Honestly one of the reasons I broke up with him was because I couldn't trust him with the doors and the cats getting out and had started taking Dracko (GSD) on the road with me for work (overnight in hotels) cuz as our relationship deteriorated he wasn't all that nice to him.

Oh and Teddy was outside. I found him wandering around beside the garage.

My nephews who live with me now (they are in their 20's) know that if ANYTHING happens to the animals (i.e. getting out) when I am away they are dead meat. One of them got in an accident with my rather new vehicle recently and I didn't get upset. (He paid the $200 deductible.) When they lived with me as teens they knew the rule: You can mess with my "stuff", wreck the car, etc but let anything happen to the animals and it'll be your last day on earth.

I'm glad you wrote "WAS" on the title thread so I knew right away you found him.

OMG, your heart must have stopped ! Men just don't think the same as women, they worry about it when it happens, women think of all the things that could happen and try to prevent them.

I am so glad it was a short term panic

Thank's everyone,I honestly think they remember bad stuff..
A couple of years ago,Chico was missing for two hours,we were totally destroyed searched every back-yard.
Only to come back and find him on our front-porch,just like Rocky yesterday and he's never tried it again.

None of my cats rush for the door trying to get out, they know when we rattle their collars they can come out with us,they do not wear their collars inside.

I think men are not as observant as women,I always get"How did you notice that"from hubby, whether it's about a bird or a stray animal,or easily finding something hubby has looked for an hour!!!

What a rush Chico. So happy that Rocky did not go far. I too was surprised when I first saw your thread, but the word "WAS" calmed me down and I wasn't worried that he 'was' still missing.

That little rebel. I know how you must have felt. How horrible. Maks has scared me a few times like that, even though they are inside all the time.

I hope that was Rocky's last adventure like that.
