Tonka Boxer Boy needs your lovin'

Tonka is a sweet and loving 1 1/2 yr old, neutered male boxer. He is fawn with a lot of white which makes him quite strikingly handsome! Tonka knows many commands like sit, come, give paw, high five! (put your hand up high and he puts his paw in it), bark on command, lie down, "where's your toy?" and he goes to get it. He loves to play fetch and to run.

Tonka can be left home alone and is well behaved however he is looking for a home with someone who is around more often (ie retired, work from home etc). You see, poor Tonka has epilepsy. His family brought him to a shelter because they were not able to give him the care that he needed. And so now he is looking for a family that is able to dedicate themselves to his wellbeing. Boxer Rescue Quebec is having all tests done now so we will have a complete prognosis on his condition soon and will start treatment. Epilepsy can be controlled with meds (that are quite inexpensive) and with the proper attention many dogs live long, happy lives. For more info on canine epilepsy CLICK HERE.

If you might be the right family for our darling Tonka, please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions at info@boxerrescuequebec.com or fill out our online application at http://www.boxerrescuequebec.com/apply.cfm
or read more about Boxer Rescue Quebec at http://www.boxerrescuequebec.com

awww , Tonka's a beauty ! that he finds his forever family real soon

Hey Crystal , nice to "see" you ! I'm sure you already know this but just in case someone else would be interested in him , epilepsy meds are available in pharmacies and less expensive than at the vet.

Thanks Frenchy! I still lurk around to check in but between work, the rescue, home renos and my little monsters I don't have as much time as I'd like

Update

**** UPDATE ****

Tonka has found his forever home! They are thrilled and very in love with him.

From his new family :
He has gotten to know us seems so happy...he snuggled and snored on my lap last night for an hour...we didn't think he was stressed at all..which was quite a nice surprise. And at bed time, he slept in my daughters waterbed all night...which she loved.
The cat..lightening...has put him in his place, and Tonka know where he stands...but today they are socializing more with each other...they might eventually become buds...who knows! And the bird doesn't seem to excite him, he just sings to him...so cute...but we put him up off the floor just in case.

We went shopping today at petsmart....and lets just say, the cart was full....He has a handsome new collar and name tag...and ALOT of toys...
We just cant get over how he was given up and the reasons why...he is the perfect dog.
