Does anyone have a dog who asks to go to bed?
My dane Montana actually asks to go to bed. We first saw this when he went camping for the first time but now does it regularly at home.

Yes - my bed. He goes to the door and whines. He does this every night and gets at least a few hours of good sleep alone before I go to bed and kick him off.

Sort of - Dodger and I "share" a chair; usually I prefer to sit on the floor so he actually gets it most of the time...but on the odd times when I want to sit in the chair he refuses to sleep on his bed (on the floor) so if standing and staring at me doesn't make me get off his chair, he gives me a look of disdain before heading up to bed!

Our Golden would "put himself to bed every night! He would have his dinner, play for a few minutes and then while we were having dinner her would just go to bed. He would sleep the whole night and get up when we did in the morning... I was envious!

Yep, Peaches gets up and runs into bed the moment I turn the TV off in the evening. She will even run back out to the kitchen to get me if I'm not moving fast enough for her. Simon is stubborn, if he's been sleeping on the floor or on my lap, he won't get up

Yes. Our pap always starts telling me she wants to go to bed around the time I start getting the kids ready. She'll go to the bedroom door and wait and if it takes too long she'll come and try to round us up. Then she goes to bed with the kids, later on she'll come back out, but she likes to make sure the kids are asleep.

Boo is my study buddy. He pulls the all nighters with me and he actually likes it. It's my alone time with him. Jemma follows the man around, so if he's asleep, wherever he is, she's asleep there too.

Schultz asked to go to "bed" when we were camping this summer. He was tired of hanging out around the camp fire and actually walked up to the tent and scratched it and then looked back at us as if to say "ya coming too?"
He doesn't generally ask to go to bed at home though cos he crashes on the couch and then only ventures into the bedroom when I am climbing into bed....

My in-laws' bull terrier stands at the bottom of the stairs. If you walk by he'll look up the stairs like, "let's go!". If he's feeling impatient he'll do the "Wawawa-mwawa!" cry.

Charley will put himself to bed if I stay up late, he'll grumble on his way too to make himself get noticed. He'll go to the nearest available crate (yes we have more than one), hum, ha and sigh and curl up at the back of it and go to sleep.

My oldest dog Chopper puts himself to bed every night at 10:00PM! When we go camping he simply opens the trailer door and tucks himself in! I love it! They are so funny!!!! We have a pretty regular routine which I think helps.

yep my dog Rebel asks to go to bed at about 10pm by whining and bumping the door with his head (he sleeps in my room at nite and if the door is closed this is what he does.) I thought it was fascinating when he started it, I have never had a dog do this before. And he actually will get upset with me if I don't let him in!

Cooper has a bed time routine. When we start getting ready for bed we bring him upstairs and let him play on the bed. He gets so excited, playing with whatever toy we bring with, or a pair of crocheted slippers. Chomping on the comforter (still a puppy--we're working on this one). Then when he sees that we're pretty settled in bed, me with a book, hubby with the news he starts to settle down. In a few minutes he's dozing too.
Right before lights out hubby takes him back to his crate. I like him to stay in his crate at night for his own safety. One night he got busy for a minute before he put him in and turned around and saw that he had walked in and gotten himself all settled. He just knows when he's there for the night--and that's fine with him. He "works" hard all day. |

Monty will wander upstairs around 830 to go to bed. On occassion he will come back down to see what's going on, then go right back to either his crate or the spare room futon.
