Dog is throwing up
Hi there, I'm new to the forums.
My three-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, named Ivy, has apparently been throwing up today. My mom first discovered it when I was at work, she had thrown up a brown liquid, and her poops were kind of gloopy when Mom took her out. Turns out, that while she was in my room after I had left for work, she had thrown up all her breakfast. According to mom, she's been fine. And when my sister and brother-in-law came over, she was right as rain, going berzerk like she always does when they come over. It was the same when I came home from work, happy happy happy girl. She just threw up again about an hour ago, more brown liquid, and she's crawled up into a chair, curled up and is sleeping. She seems kind of tired now. I got some water in her, and it stayed down. She seems pretty alert, sits straight up when I get up off the couch, follows me around when I walk into another room. I live in a small rural area, the closest vet is not open on weekends. I know the ideal thing would be to take her to the vet immediately, but that is simply not feasible, given where I live and distance/gas prices/etc. Is there anything I can do for her myself until tomorrow when I can get her in? I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you. Anne |

It sounds like you're doing all you can right now. Try to keep her hydrated. Does she still have goopy poops? If she's having frequent bouts of diarrhea along with vomiting, keeping her hydrated will be even more important.
Please keep us updated with what the vet tells you, alturego! I hope she recovers quickly! ![]()
