Yellow Lab is sick and depressed.

My aunt called last night and informed me there is a dog that needs a new home. The dog is a Yellow Lab. approx. 5 years old.

The dog has been abused before and used to run away from a neighbors house and go to my aunts house to stay for months at a time until the owner would come and get the dog.

Last night the dog showed up at my aunt's door and was whining and limping a little. She thinks he was abused again. Animal control said to find a new owner for the dog asap and let the dog live a happy life. Well, I picked the dog up last night and he threw up a few times after drinking water (he would not eat) and he looks extremely depressed. He moves slowly and his tale is between his legs.

I have seen this dog before when he was at my aunt's house and he was the happiest dog ever. For some reason he showed up at her door and was not in the best of condition. (He is acting the same at our house as he was at my aunts house.) I don't have a lot of money so I need options because this dog deserves better. I want to keep him but I need to find out what is going on with him.

Make some calls to vets and animal rescue organizations and inquire about financial assistance to get the dog checked out. They will either work with you or point you in the right direction. I rescued a kitty a few months ago and worked with a rescue organization and they actually covered the medical bills and shots as long as I was willing to take care of the kitty until they found a permanent foster home. The dog definitely needs to be checked out by a vet so give them a call. I'm glad to hear that you and your aunt are taking matters into your own hands to make a better life for this little one. It's hard to say if there is a medical thing going on or it's just the trauma and uncertainty of being relocated. I'd talk to a vet about options. A lot of vets will help out if you are trying to help a doggy in need.
