Unless you found him laying in the vomit, there is a strong chance that the smell is isolated around his face. I recommend brushing his teeth and then wiping the face/snout area with a warm, damp washcloth/facecloth. If the rest of the body has an odor, you could take scent-free, alcohol-free baby wipes designed for newborn sensitive skin. With a GSD it will take a box or two. Is there a reason you can't bathe at home? I know it makes a huge mess.

I have found that after any episode of vomiting there is a sour smell and cleaning the teeth, mouth and chin hair helps tremendously with any odor.
