I have a St. Benard, and a maltipoo little dog big dog! My little dog attacks my big dogs tail when I let her in or when shes going out.
She plays with the big dogs tail, but the attacks when she goes out are vicious. does any one know why?

Can you describe this behavior in more detail? By 'vicious', are you referring to growling/barking/snarling, or does she get rough with the dogs tail?

Could you imagine if big dogs had little dog brains :eek: It still confuses me why we let little dogs get away with such horrifying behavior, when the St. Barnard would be shot on the spot (generalization), the "poo" is cute.

If you any suggestions or reccomendations as to how the OP can help her dogs, I'm sure she'd love to hear them.

I mean.. Go hire a dog therapist.

Your maltipoo very likely sees the Bernard's tail as something to try to dominate as its probably his height, wags alot and slaps him in the face in the process. If your Bernard didn't like this action I'm sure he could easily and quickly persuade your multipoo to quit so as long as your Bernard doesn't retaliate too roughly then let them work it out between them. Years ago I had a chi size dog who would hang on to my dane's tail, loved to be dragged around growling and sounding fierce. The dane couldn't have cared less.

You need to step in and stop the behavior, every single time - no exception. The little dog will get it soon enough.
