I feed my three dogs Natural Balance, not the Venison formula, but I am still very worried.

I will be calling my animal food store first thing tomorrow morning.

Prin April 15th, 2007 05:59 PM

Gastric upset isn't the worst thing...:o From the looks of it, maybe there's something rotten in the food or something.

I'd contact the company tomorrow as soon as they open to ask them directly.

coppperbelle April 15th, 2007 06:08 PM

Natural Balance

They don't have anything on their web site which I find odd. I would think that would be the first place to put such information.

Prin April 15th, 2007 06:12 PM

Yeah, I agree... I scoured their site, and even called them and their little answery message didn't say anything either.

Goldens4Ever April 15th, 2007 06:39 PM

Oh my goodness.....my heart thumped when I read this. I quickly posted it on another forum, too. What is going on with these dog food companies??? I'm beginning to think that the only safe food for our canines is raw!

Who knows....something can always happen to TO, Orijen, Innova, etc. also! :yell: :frustrated:

Prin April 15th, 2007 06:40 PM

I hope Tommysmom's Tommy is ok...

I find that strange also.

Rottielover April 15th, 2007 06:54 PM

was the site where it was announced a reliable one. It is not normal for them not to have the info on their site.
Harley is on the original formula. I will call tomorrow as well to see what's up

Please know that at this time we are removing this product from the shelves, as we have had some phone calls indicating gastric upset after eating this formula. At this time, we are unsure if this could just be a particular batch problem, or simply customers switching diets too fast. However, in the meantime while we are looking further into this matter, we are not recommending to feed this formula, and are suggesting to feed our Potato and Duck or Sweet Potato and Fish Dry Dog Formula.

I thought the Itchmo site was pretty reliable. They are referenced in the www.petconnection.com site as well. Maybe the reason it's not on the Natural Balance site is because it's the weekend.

Natural Balance

maybe the person who updates their web site doesn't work on weekends although this would be the time to call him/her in and pay overtime.

It just dawned on me....."Venison and Green Pea" is one of the cat food formulas NOT dog food. I've been feeding it for the last month and haven't had a problem. :o

Tommysmom April 15th, 2007 07:23 PM

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!:frustrated:

Tommy's been doing so darn well on this one mixed with solid gold... and my mommy's doggy is on the venison now too, and my sister's doggies are on it now too, and everybody's been doing soooo much better!

Grrrrrrrr.

Hopefully this is a case of people switching foods due to the recall and doing it too fast. I guess it's no venison for Tommy until we know more, I'll call them in the morning and stick with the solid gold until then. I thought we were safe with no wheat, but at least they appear to be acting quickly while they investigate, eh? Weird that there's no mention on their website or phone message though. I hope it's all ok.

Thanks for thinking of us Prin :grouphug: .

rainbow April 15th, 2007 07:31 PM

Fingers crossed for Tommy. :fingerscr :fingerscr I wouldn't worry too much yet but would call them for clarification in the morning. I am going to call as well as I'm feeding the cat food but haven't had any problems.

Tommysmom April 15th, 2007 07:44 PM

Thanks Rainbow, :fingerscr :fingerscr for you guys too! I'm not particularly worried at this point either, although my hubby just got up and took all his venison out of his dish, LOL - he's been eating from that same bag for about the last month, it's almost finished, so I figured it was an ok bag but he feels better now :p . We did buy a new bag this week though, so I'll hold off on opening that one until I reach them. I think we're all running kind of panicked now with all the recalls, you just don't know what to think anymore. I just hope it's not anything serious.

Prin April 15th, 2007 08:15 PM

Yeah, I wouldn't get to worried yet either.. If it causes "gastric upset", you'd know by now, right?

Tommysmom April 15th, 2007 08:42 PM

I think Tommy's medical info at the vet is just filed under 'gastric upset' rather than his name, anyway, LOL. To be honest, I don't think I'd even know if the food was a bit iffy like that, we just know that this one causes LESS gastric upset than most of the others  .

I just really hope that everybody else using it is ok... checked with mom and the sis, and all their doggies are doing just dandy and loving the venison, no tummy issues at all. They didn't even switch over time either, just complete change of foods overnight, no problems. Fingers crossed, maybe it's just a bad batch or overreaction... we'll know tomorrow I suppose.

MERI April 29th, 2007 06:49 PM

OMG!
I was so busy and didn't visit this forum for a long time. Biblo was on Venison Natural Balance. He had bloody diarea two weeks ago and spant a day at vets office. I didn't connect it with food. Today I sent mu husband for dog food and he found out at the store that this formula is not available. I don't know what to feed him now.

Good choices, IMO.:) Just watch the Solid gold for recalls though. Rice bran is a suspect still, right?

MERI April 30th, 2007 07:29 PM

Thanks for advises! But we switched from solid gold bison last august. As many of us here remember, SG changed formula and didn't even informed their customers. My dog had so bad poop:yuck:. So I switched him to Natural balance venison. I don't know what to do now.
Where I can find timberworf in Montreal?
I was thinking about natural variety venison and oatmeal, but it contains chicken eggs. My dog is allergic to this stuff:sad:

Prin April 30th, 2007 07:44 PM

I think Global on St Jean might have it (Pointe Claire)...:o
