pregant dog

Hi,I have a year old female yorkie and she went into heat. Now i think she got pregant by my male yorkie that is her father.I tried keeping them apart but for some reson i think he may have got her.Has anyone have any information on dogs that breed that close in line.Should i just get the dogs aborted? The male dog is healthy and he is 6 years old.Not sure if she is pregant or not.How can I tell

You need to take her to the vet. Father/daughter pairings can cause horrible deformities. I would suggest you get them both altered so that this can not happen again in the future.

LavenderRott is right. Take both of them and get them spayed and neutered right now.

At the very least, get your female spayed!

Yes I agree spay immediately!!!!!

Ditto ditto.
It can be quite risky for a bitch to have puppies that young, especially with her father being the sire.
Also the chances of mammary cancer & pyometra are high in unspayed bitches, so it is MUCH better for her health to be spayed. :)

dog breeding

i heard that u can breed a mother and a father. iwas told that is how you keep the blood line going. im sure how true that is but i would call your vet and see if it is all right that she breed to the dad.

Please look at the dates on posts before bumping up years old posts, especially to give info about breeding. If you read the rules, this board is very pro spaying and neutering... there are too many homeless pets in the world as it is to be encouraging people without experience to breed.
