Stop & Shop Companion
Tops Companion were added to the cat list... |
Yeah, the list keeps growing. Everyone needs to be checking the site daily.

this whole nightmare has gotten WAY out of control! How can this happen to so many brands (sorry, I havent read the whole thread).
I think I would be feeding my animals homecooked meals! This is a totally unnecessary waste of animal lives and owners distress. Good on you Prin for keeping everyone updated. Even tho Im in a different part of the world, which "as far as we know" hasnt been affected yet".. I am still bloody worried. and can only imagine whay you guys are going thru! So from me and my fur-family, I hope you and your furries all keep well and safe. |
I've read most of this thread and haven't heard any mention of Medi-Cal. I know it's not on the list, but their site doesn't even mention the recall and their doesn't seem to be any way of contacting them. Has anyone heard anything? With Science Diet having a voluntary recall, it concerns me.
....and thanks for all of your posts Prin. I'm sure you have eased a lot of worried minds. |
Medi-cal is Royal Canin, and their foods aren't on the list. :thumbs up

Pet food recall
I live in a small town and specialty food are hard to come by. But what brands do you recommend that make food with real meat chunks?
I'll take a look and see what I can find around here.
If you are feeding Fancy Feast those are not chunks of real meat. They are formed to look that way only. I am very suspicious if they are adding foods to the list. They must have a master control list somewhere. Why didn't these foods get added right away? People may have continued feeding them for the past few days thinking they were okay. Does Menufoods only make wet foods? Do they have a subsiduary? |
I don't know.:o I don't know why they didn't put out a main list of anybody whose food they make. I guess that's why companies started issuing statements of their own.
|
Pet food recall
From what I can gather Menu Foods is a public company listed on the TSX. Looks like the price per share dropped substantially last week before the recall was made public. That is about all I can find out about the company. If you go to their web site all the information that is on there is about the recall.
I would like to know more about the company. For example does it make only wet food? Is there a subsiduary that makes dry food? Anyone here a member of Dunn and Bradstreet? (sp) |
I just read this article. http://manufacturing.net/article/CA6426131.html?industryid=44317
it said that menu foods knew about the contaminated food on feb 20th. they then conducted their own tests on 40-50 cats and dogs WHO ALL DIED!!! the more I hear the worse things get! |
dog food recall
On the news tonight there was a couple who lost their cat recently due to kidney problems. Their other cat was being treated for the same thing. It seems that every channel or news report is interviewing another person whose animal became ill or died. I don't think the numbers we are hearing, 9 cats and 1 dog are accurate.

Pet food recall
Hi everyone Thank you for your prayers for Sera. We will be going back to the vet tomorrow as the blood test has come back with slight elevation. The vet will be checking to see whats all going on. The vet feels that she may have only gotten one can of tainted food but we can't be sure so this is still ongoing. She seems fine doing her usual but I have to measure water intake and output Haven't slept very well and she doesn't seem to like moms cooking but my husband says thats normal for us all:laughing: need alittle humour or I may just want to ---- someone.
I do pray that all pet owners are aware of this and take it seriously. |
Can these people sue the food company ? I mean I would completely freak if one of my fuzzbutts would die because of commercial food. Could you imagine ?
I have had a couple people ask me about treats, whether any brands of doggie treats may be involved...I wasn't sure and couldn't find any specific information about it either. |
Food recall
Frenchy The vet is documenting everything and I advise others who see their vet to have everything documented. There is talk of class action suits so get documentation. I hope this company drops off the TSX.

Food recall
I'm sorry but I forgot to thank Prin for all her work on keeping us up to date if it wasn't for her I might not of known about Seras wet foods so quickly. As the first information that went out didn't list large breed Nutro. :thumbs up Prin and a hug
|
You know there was a dog owner out with us at lunch time, we were talking about the pet food recall and it's the first she'd heard of it....unbelievable. I hope all shelters and rescue groups look at donations of pet food closely the next while, you never know what some places may be trying to give them.

They did tests in Februarty on 40 to 50 dogs/cats but they did not ALL die. Irregardless, they DID NOT do their recall until March. |

sorry rainbow, I just skimmed thru most of the thread, and prob missed your posting about earlier tests.
I do still think its aweful that they use any animal to do tests. Life is just a commodity to these ppl. |

HO, so far it is only wet (canned/pouch) food that is affected. |

That's right. Make sure you keep all your packaging/labels/cans with the manufacturing dates and codes. I also hope this company disappears off the TSX. :fingerscr |

Cindy
Good point but I would really hope that the SPCA/shelters/rescues would be up to date on the recalls. |

The information I posted is from www.petconnection.com ....it's a good informative site and they will be updating it daily. |
And a yey! to Rainbow for answering everybody's questions so well. :highfive: :grouphug:
Booswalia, as rainbow said, Medi-cal might not be in the clear afterall... They've got a whole other set of issues they're dealing with now. sigh. |
