:D So she was a snowman killer and a menace to hoses, but she loved her bunny! :lovestruck: Ha! That made me laugh!!! What a sweetheart!!

It was such a hard decision to make! I dream that she comes back every night. I miss her so much!

She was a crazed snowman killer! But so incredibly gentle. She never hurt a fly in her life! She was always so gentle and patient with the children, and enjoyed a good nose-sniff with the guinea pigs as well. She was such a good girl.

You are so fortunate that Echo visits you so often in your dreams--she's keeping a watchful eye on you! :grouphug: As for that decision--oh, yes, it is the toughest decision we have to make, and it never gets any easier. But we take on that responsibility when we bring them into our lives. As long as the decision is made for their benefit and with love in your heart, I don't believe they will fault us for it. And I know you acted out of love, as does Echo.

So she liked guinea pigs, too? That's so cool! We were adopted by a cat back in July, and three of our dogs are still uncertain about whether to embrace him or eat him...  I can't imagine (or maybe I can) what they'd think about guinea pigs. I'm envious! :D

Echo sounds like an old soul--gentle, respectful, patient, sociable, but strong when the occasion called for it (for instance, if Evil Snowmen were threatening the neighborhood :D). All her life you looked after her and she returned the favor--and now she's your guardian angel, still watching over you.

She definitely sounds like she was such a sweet heart. Ours is good with the cats, kids, etc but has been known to nail squirrels in her younger years, which is so hard to picture now the way she walks. My kids used to go out on their four wheelers and Lexie would be leading the pack. She would stop occasionally and lay in a puddle to cool off, and then catch up with them. On the way back, though, she hitched a ride.

Lexie died yesterday, she would have been 18 this summer. Even though we were 100% sure it was time, it was so heartbreaking, and we feel so guilty. It definitely is true that they take a piece of your heart when they go.

Aw, sweet Lexie. So sorry to hear, lindapalm. :2huggers: You gave her 17 years of love and a good life! Nothing to feel guilty about there--just lots of good memories.

:candle: Lexie

Sorry for the loss of Lexie. 18 is a pretty impressive age. I still feel guilty about Echo, even though my brain knows it was best for her. But I would give anything to have her back.

Thank you Hazelrunpack and Silverwind. We were very fortunate to have Lexie for a long time, but it still wasn't enough.
