How do I post messages - How does the bulletin board work? |
How does a Bulletin Board work? The main page of the bulletin board is located here and from that page you can easily see all of the forums (and sub-forums) that make up the Pets.ca bulletin board. Our bulletin board has thousands of threads (topics) that visitors have posted since the bulletin board on this site started. All the most popular pet questions on health topics, training topics, have been asked and answered many times. So you probably want to look around the most appropriate forum to see where your possible question has already been answered. The bulletin board is divided into different forums (example - Introduce yourself say hello, General forum, Breed discussion and information, training talk pet photography-pet pictures etc.) A member starts a thread (asks a question) by going to the most appropriate forum and clicking the 'New Thread' icon that looks like this: In order for a bulletin board to be a valuable resource it must be well organized. Members, you can help us enormously simply by posting your questions in the forum or category most appropriate to the question. Members get to use this forum for free so there is no need to send money. Just take 1 extra minute to make sure you are posting your new thread in the most appropriate Forum. As an example, if the issue or thread is about dog training, DON'T post it just anywhere, DON'T post it in the General Forum, go to the Training Talk forum (category) and post your question or reply there. You'll see the description under the forum name and that states what that particular forum is about. In the case of The Training talk forum, for example, the description reads. "This forum is meant as a meeting place to discuss issues related to training your pets." A member replies to an existing thread by clicking the 'Post Reply' icon that looks like this: To add images to your messages, in the same window where you type your message if you scroll down, you will see "manage attachments". Click on this button and then click "browse" to locate the file from your computer. When you've chosen a picture click on"upload". You'll get a prompt confirming your file selection. Then click "close window" and then click the "Submit" button. If all was well with your file size and type (gif or jpg) you should actually see your post with your image. You must note that there are limits to how large the file can be (usually 100k) and if your file is too large you have to resize it (make it smaller). You need a graphics program to do this and many computers come pre-loaded with graphics programs. If you need one though, you can get a free one at irfanview.com. More detailed info on posting, threads and a general primer on using this bulletin board can be found here. |
