I'm flabberghasted! I got an obese longhair brown tabby, 9, from humane society last december. she'd take some petting, but not much. growls and hisses to indicate "I've had enough" pretty quickly, and no interest in full body strokes. anything towards the hindquarters at all, and she'd growl. And she entirely stuck to staying on the floor. Got her a lion cut a month ago. After a week of disgruntlement, her 'tude changed entirely. Now she can't get enough petting, stroking, scratching. Loves a tummy rub. Now spends most evenings on the couch beside me. Sometimes moves over to lie in my lap (and hisses only when I have to move her!) Talks to me. When I say Hi, she chirps Hi back. I'm happily stunned!
Anyone else seen this happen?

I have no explanation (or experience) except that maybe she just feels happier now without all the cumbersome hair (and subsequently fewer hairballs?). However, I would love to see some pics of her!

I think she probably likes feeling lighter in weight. The groomer told me that many cats they gave the lion cut to were happier; they felt cleaner and were able to groom more easily. no pix at the moment, but will come.

I know that Puddles is always happier after a furcut, maybe your kitty is the same

Coco, Maine Coon, gets a hair cut in the summer and he's much happier and more active. Nino my recently adopted Maine Coon got a good going over with the Furminator and feels better, also had some mats removed, didn't shave him yet as we weren't sure how he'd take to it. Ya know start out easy with the first grooming session. May get the groomer to come back out and just do his tummy.
Coco still has his face hair and his tail and legs. Looks like he's wearing bloomers!! He's sooo cute and sooo soft, like velvet or velour.

Hi
Maybe the hair was pulling on him cause of little tats and once they were off it didn't hurt anymore. Are we going to see pics? :D

If there were mats in the fur especially close to the skin then everytime she was touched it would feel like her fur was being pulled out, so once those are gone then definately she'd be feeling much better :D
