What is a Dog Whisperer – Pet tip 215

These days you hear a lot about the term ‘dog whisperer’ and most people associate the term with one particular dog trainer, Cesar Milan. Many people think that he created the term when in fact this is false. The term dog whisperer is actually a term borrowed from horse training, where certain trainers or horse whisperers seemed to be able to get horses to calm down and accept training or accept a rider on their backs. Their methods were often ‘quiet’ (as opposed to more traditional punitive techniques) to an observer as these trainers seemed to get results from quiet whispers. These days though, the term has been diluted and many people use the term loosely.

Bastian is a pure bred Golden Retriever that my family & I have raised from a puppy (8 weeks old). He is an exceptional dog and is currently going through evaluation to become a therapy dog with St. John Ambulance (Mississauga). He is a gentle creature who gets along great with every other creature no matter what species.
Marmaduke is a Great Dane/Golden Lab cross (110 lbs/31" tall) that we recently adopted from a wonderful animal rescue called Birch Haven. Marmaduke was an owners surrender. He was handed over to Birch Haven because the previous owners purchased another dog and couldn't give Marmaduke the attention and love he needed. He has adjusted very well to our loving household and now has more attention and love he could ever dream of.
Our 2 boys get along so well together and my familiy's new favorite past time is to watch them play...they are very big dogs and things get knocked over....but it's OK they're just having fun...who am I to stop them;)
