Kittens and Birth Infections – Pet tip 241
When kittens are born they are extra small and fragile. This increases their potential of becoming ill or getting an infection. Infections in newborn kittens are quite serious as their bodies are small and they have not built up adequate immunity against many diseases or potential infections that may harm them. This article will focus on three infections that can affect newborn kittens; umbilical infections, toxic milk syndrome and septicemia.
When a female cat (aka a queen) gives birth, she will bite open the amniotic sac that surrounds the kitten. She will then chew through the umbilical cord of the kitten. Normally there are no problems.

I am an attention whore. I LOVE to be pet and played with. When I'm not getting the attention I want I will make up ways to play by myself. My favorite these days is to chase my tail. I have caught it on occasion and from what my first mommy says I look pretty confused when I do! My first mommy, Hilary, and my daddy, Puff, were the ones to rescue me from the adoption center at Petsmart. My adoptive mommy saw me and fell in love with my so much that she called my auntie, Megan, at work to say: "We're getting a kitty." My daddy is allergic to me and therefore I'm ban from playing in his and Hilly's room; which is fine, it's a big mess and I'd get lost. In fact I did once! I got into their room ((hehehe)) and got lost in the closet behind the boxes in there. But when Daddy went away one weekend mommy snuck me in there and I got to sleep with her! She kept kicking me though so I think I'll stick to the couch.
My all time favorite spot is now a toss up between the top of the round chair in the livingroom and the couch with all of mommy's blankets and my new founds space under the stairs. I go there when daddy scares me or they threaten to take me outside.
*Yawn* Well that's all from the kitty front. Back to under the blankets for this cold kitty!
