Kitten Development Stages – Pet Tip 249

When we bring a kitten home for the first time to adopt it as a pet, it should be between nine and twelve weeks old. This is so the kitten has a chance to spend time with its mother and so that the kitten becomes socialized with its littermates and learns proper kitten behaviour. But what happens before the kitten comes home? This article will outline some of the important milestones in kittenhood in an effort to familiarize you with some of the stages of kitten development.

Kittens are born blind and deaf and they remain that way for around the first fourteen days of their lives. They use their sense of smell to find their way toward their mothers for nourishment and heat. They really need to stay close to their mothers for these first few weeks as they are unable to regulate their own body temperature. The umbilical cord typically falls off after the first few days of life.

That's right I am the Seductress!!!

Amy
came to our home after being rescued by the humane society of Ottawa.
She was covered in a pink flea powder, had one blue eye and one yellow
eye. Her coat was snow white. She seduced me at once.
I was
told she was completely deaf but I talked to her holding her tight in
my arms and she purred back. She was mine!!!I adopted her. Since that
day, she has been the most cuddly cat you can imagine. Sleeps on my
shoulder, kneading into my skin all night!Being deaf, she loves to ride
the vacuum cleaner, walking among the stainless steel pots and pans,
usually creating a big collapse of the pile. Doesn't care about the
deafening smoke alarm noise!!
Her favorite place: top of the fridge, to keep her warm all day and
the family bed at night.
She likes boat rides on the Ottawa river, since she can't stand to watch
me from the beach rowing away from her.

She
loves to eat roast beef, salmon and anything edible. Spicy Thai food
is the limit. But unfortunately, all she gets is ...Low cal dry food!!!

The above is only on her wish list!
