Elderly dog having trouble standing/walking

I have a 13 yr old female German Shepard mix who is displaying the following symptoms:

Trouble standing/walking
Holding head off to one side
Not barking anymore
seems confused
Eyesight failing

Someone mentioned stroke as a possibility and we are taking her to the vet tomorrow. Is there any remedy for this kind of condition or should we just plan on saying goodbye?

Thank you.

Old Dog Vestibular Disease

We went through all of this a short while ago.We first thought it was a stroke but it turned out to be Old Dog Vestibular Syndrome. Most dog's will make a drastic if not full recovery in about 3-4 weeks. Our Dog did, except his head still leans to the left.If you do a search on Google you will come up with all sorts of info. Here are a few links.

Shelly,
Thank you so much for the information. It sounds very much like what she has been experiencing, though it does not seem to be resolving itself quickly (there were some signs of akwardness a couple of weeks ago and it has been at least 4 days since she began to really deteriorate). I will be sure to discuss with the vet when we take her.

Our dog made no speedy recovery. All of this happened on Sept 17th and he is still very picky about what he will eat. He could not eat dry kibble at all up until about 2 weeks. If you do a search on this forum for Dog is very sick. Stroke? You will see all of the symptoms our dog had.
