I was absolutely delighted to hear this, and I've sent this off to all the MPPs.

Oops, I posted what I thought was a hot off the press story from Canadian Press (since it is not yet on the NB CBC web site) but you already have posted a story. There were some excellent presentations to the Legislature committee - all against Lamrock's idea. The briefs were not simply the typical no bad dogs but bad owner theme but well researched and insightful presentations. One woman whose pit bull assists her in her wheel chair brought her dog Clancy to the hearings.

It helps that one of the Minsters in the NB government is married to a vet and used to manage his clinic. <g>

Seriously, every brief was oppossed to the legislation and overrode the tragic and highly emotional attack on a toddler by several large dogs. Both toddler and dogs were unsupervised but some opportunistic politicians grabbed the issue and ran with it. Fortunately, more level heads prevailed!

Great news,now maybe others will see the light I doubt M Bryant will though,he will enact this ban just out of spite and his hatred of dogs Hopefully the opposition-parties will stop him,or the Liberals are digging their own grave.

remember though the liberals only make up the minority of the government so if we can stir the opposition more then we may have a case.

The situation is different in NB in that the bill was introduced by an opposition member - and the Tories have a very slim minority. But, you do have the benefit - as noted - of the other parties overriding the government. Much depends on how well the animal lovers lobby can marshall support!! If the govt thinks the majority of voters are opposed to the bill, they may back down.

The liberals in Ontario are a majority government. It's the federal liberals that are minority. Unfortunatly, all they need is a majority vote from the liberals to pass the ban.

I wondered about the situation in Ont - thought the Liberals had won a fairly healthy majority. (But did not want to contradict anyone from Ont and assumed maybe I'd been mistaken). That makes it a lot tougher!!

If I were there, I'd contact every card carrying Liberal in the province and every one who donated to the Ontario Liberal party who owns a dog!! These are the people who worked in the campiagns and aid for the election campaign.

That has to carry some weight!!
