Sore little touche...

Hi everyone. I'm going to take her to the vet after work today but I wanted to see if anyone had any input. My little fur baby has had some not so nice poops in the last 4 or 5 days. Some ok, but in the past 2 or 3 days once in a while she'll do a really bad one, then about an hour or so later she'll need to do another bad one - I'm talking real rotten nasty smelling diarrhea. Sorry if anyone is eating.
I posted last week that she was teething and kind of melancholy, but she's in really good spirits now - it's just the bad back end thing. Usually it's late at night - between 10pm and into the wee morning hours. The first one of the day is ok. Poor thing - her bum must be a little sore by now...
Also - a friend from the SPCA suggested that I give her a couple of licks of Kaopectate (sorry - not sure if that's the right spelling) is that ok or should I always stick to going to the vet and getting doggy medicine?

Thanks.
