Dog shot and found wondering Phoenix streets

A 1-year-old golden retriever mix was found wandering the streets of Phoenix with a pellet in his head, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control reported Thursday.


The dog, named Jack, was described as cold and frightened by a good Samaritan who found him and took him to the ACC.


"Jack was very weak when he came to the Maricopa County Animal Care & Control West Valley facility," said Dr. Nancy Bradley, an ACC Veterinarian."


"We were shocked when after an exam we found that he was shot in the head. We provided emergency veterinary care, removed the bullet, and saved his life."


Jack is recovering, but his progress needs to be monitored.

Poor Jack! I hope it wasn't his "owner" who shot him! Think of the trauma and the trust issues. Goldens are such sweet, goofy, family dogs. I hate to think of all he's been through. So many times I've wished dogs could talk!!
