Drooping tail
My daughter thinks my dog is sick because her tail is drooping today. She is a husky mix and her tail normally curves up over her back. She is 5 years old. Is this a sign of sickness? Thanks for your help.

It's no uncommon for a dog to let it's tail droop behind it's body. I knew a dog, quite a while ago, who also had a curled tail. When a second dog was brought into the house, with a differently held tail, the first dog actually changed how he held his tail, to be a more close resemblance to the second dog. Very strange indeed. According to the ACK breed description, the Husky tail can droop.
There should be other indications that your dog is sick, if he is indeed sick. Does he seem "mopey"? Is he off his food? Tired? Grouchy? If you notice any other change in the appearance or temperment of the dog, bring him to the Vet as soon as possible. Of course, you could always bring him into the Vet for a check up, to be on the safe side that is.

Drooping Tail
I think I will take her to the vet. Thanks for your reply. She really doesn't seem sick any other way and nothing new has happened at home. She seems like it hurts her to sit on it. She got out of the fence and may have hurt herself that way. I hope that is it.

Oh my, yes. Take her to the Vet right away! In your original post you didn't mention the dog was in pain. It may have actually "broken" the tail-bone, kinda like what people do when we sit down and injure our own tail-bone.
Pain is always an indication there is something wrong. Your daughter seems very smart to notice something wrong with the dog, and you're a very good parent to listen! Please keep up posted on how your pup is doing after the Vet visit....ok?
