What to do with photos?

Hey everyone I am looking for ideas on what folks do with their photos. In this digital age we live in I find that I print less pictures than before. I also have many many photos in boxes that I am looking for ideas on what to do with them. I can scrapbook some but the are many. Any suggestions would be great.

I keep mine in albums. I have one album for Friends and Family and another 16 or so () for pets. Plus boxes and boxes of photos that were less than good enough for putting in the albums but that I didn't have the heart to throw out. Hmmmm... Thanks for the reminder--I should probably go through and toss at least the unwanted prints. Will probably keep the negatives, though, till they disintegrate--but getting rid of the crappy prints will at least free up closet space...

If you have a scanner, you could scan in your old photos and then pitch the printed copies. But remember to back up all your digital data in at least two different ways--digital photography is so convenient, but it's so easy to lose all those precious memories in a storage device failure...

I like the scrapbook idea for old photos. I made my grandmother an album like that (with decades old photos from an old Steinberg's bag) about 20 years ago.
She has since passed and now that album is a treasure.

Digital scanners are also a great idea and fairly cheap these days.

If the photos are old be sure to use acid free paper , more photo albums have acid free paper today but , I think the older ones are not acid free . I would frame some and put them up on a wall. You can buy self adhesive bumpers that are used for cabinet doors , they're small dots . You put one bummer in each corner inside the frame then put the photo on the glass , the bumpers will keep the photo from touching the glass . If the frame get wet by mistake the photo will on stick to glass. .

What to do with photos can be quite a problem. We had a discussion earlier this year on what to do with years of photos with members of the family. The younger members preferred the idea of photo albums seeing that everything is going digital. They thought it would be unique to be able to leaf through albums and look at photographs the way it used to be done, and over time they will become family heirlooms. The one main thing they stipulated was please put names dates and places in pencil on the back of the photos as well as a small caption under the photo in the album. This I thought was a great idea due to the fact that I have photo albums here that go back in the 1920s belonging to my parents with no description or names rendering them a bit useless not knowing the gist of the photo. As the kid said they wished their grandparents would have done the same to their photos so they would tell a story.

Hope this idea might help.

If you did scan some pictures - you could easily get a digital frame that could play the photos on a loop. I have one and it's pretty cute.

Those frames used to cost over 100 dollars but now they are super cheap.
