My Vet still calls it Ehrlichiosis. Last time we discussed it, three years ago, only one dog in our quite large public health area had been diagnosed and was believed to have got it while vacationing in the south of the U.S.

The dog I read about lives in New Hampshire. I hope my dog does not this I used fleas and ticks control on him. I really hated to do this but the ticks are horrible this year in Mass.

Left untreated, it can be very fatal. Many vets will not treat a dog when they first come down with it, which allows the disease to set up permanent shop. It used to be called Ehrlichia equii, and most likely, like all the other tick diseases, is spreading and is underdiagnosed.
