Hi. Just wanted to say that I ran across this forum by googling information about squirrels. I have 3 cats and a dog that are my children. I think that this forum will be helpful.

Welcome to the board, sue3pets! You'll soon find that we're a demanding bunch when it comes to pics of furbabies...so if you have some to share, we'd love to see some pics of your kitties and your dog!

I wonder why I don't see dead squirrels after they die. I live in a older neighborhood with alot of old trees with alot of squirrels. They have nests in the trees. But I never see any on the ground after they die so does that mean they die in their nests?

Many probably die from predator strikes and are taken away to be eaten. And like a lot of animals, injured or sick squirrels hide, hoping to heal or recover, and when they die, the bodies aren't in plain sight. I suspect in a city, the biggest mortality factor would be traffic. Crows or vultures will eat the carcasses. Ants, insects, microorganisms...all of them work to utilize a dead animal so the bodies don't lie around for long.
