Well Change of Venue!

So thought it was gonna be Calgary....but after not finding anything suitable and not too expensive and not a basement and didn't want 5 animals...we settled on Medicine Hat!!

So we looked at a place today, not fancy. No stairs, bonus for Mom! Walk in shower also bonus for Mom. Raised flower beds, now Mom can help with gardening. Enclosed front porch and back porch..bonus for cats, who might just decide the outdoors is exciting, so no chance of that boys and girl! Decent sized yard, but not too big for my push mower and it's pretty much fenced. Fence needs a bit of patching for Miss Bayley so she may need her tie-out for a bit, unless I can find some fence panels to make a temp run.

Landlord seems like a decent guy, Bayley didn't go off when he walked past the van, the last place we looked at, when the landlord walked by Bayley did her killer dog impersonation..hmmm. This one today, didn't flinch when I said 4 cats and the dog. Just as long as they don't pee on everything..no problem there.

There's a vet about a 10 minute walk away..that'll be nice, have to check them out. Medicine Hat has a pretty decent sounding dog club and an Agility club. The Agility club is called The Flashing Canines! Mom's hearing is a bit off these days and thought I said The Slashing Canines!! Now that would get some attention

So now the fun part is telling our current landlady She's gonna be upset, I know she doesn't want us to leave and in some ways I don't want to leave either but jobs being what they are here...I have no intention of trying to work in the oil patch, they don't hire many women anyway, and the thought of that work is like NO WAY!! So planning to butter her up, she's started giving us eggs, her chickens have starting laying like crazy, so a couple of banana breads, butter tarts may lighten the news...I hope! Ugh I hate this part, but you gotta do what you gotta do and I need a good job, not just clerk in a convenience store and the 60 km drive is a killer for gas!

I'm glad it's just 2.5 hours by car....I suppose I'll just stuff all the cats in their carriers and use ear plugs! I do have some homeopathic calming stuff that I can start giving them a few days before. Ah well it's a lot shorter a move than our last one!!

I hope your current landlady isn't too upset. She knows a good tenant when she sees one

If your landlord is going to be upset, I'm sure it's because she adores you. When we moved form our old home, our next door neighbor stood on her driveway and cried .

But you do what you have to do and I hope your move goes smoothly. Cant wait to pics pics too .

Patty,,the new place sounds great! Do they have a senior place for your mom to hang out during the day so she'll have company while your at work?

I'm sure Medicine Hat has some sort of stuff for seniors..my Mom's funny though, she doesn't really like other seniors!!! She doesn't play cards or bingo, her vision isn't great so she has a hard time reading stuff like that. She's never liked playing cards or bingo. Fortunately the place has raised flower beds that she can putter in. I have to see if there's anything else for seniors, she might like going on daytrips and stuff. I hope to get Bayley into daycare a few days a weeks..need something like that for Mom

So did our deposit thingy today. Landlord is definately a decent guy..he's going to fix up the fence so Bayley will actually have a fenced yard to go out in. He's actually fixing things up that need fixing.

Too cool the Gas City Dog Club has their office maybe 3 or 4 blocks away. Bayley and I need to get into classes!!

Congrats on the new digs!! When do you move in?

Pretty cool about the classes! Will you try obedience or agility or both? It would be really handy for you if they have an agility course available for use, too!!

I think for now, we'll concentrate on the obedience part..that Husky brain ya know!! It's frustrating when that smell in the corner is more interesting than you are!! I think Rally O will be great to develop her focus and easier on my old. out of shape bones!!

Wow u got the place u wanted? THAT'S GREAT!! I'm so happy for u. If u call the Red Cross re: mom and ask if there are senior's clubs around that do day trips they might be able to help u. I know here they have the Red Cross and the senior get together a couple of times a week, it costs a few dollars, but they do crafts, have lunch. I don't think ours does day trip though.
