Question Advice re travel with Dog

Hi Guys,
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip (possibly Boston) and we would like to take Sheriff with us. We are planning to drive (no farther than 10hrs from Niagara), and we are renting an SUV to make the trip more comfortable for Sheriff. He loves car rides, so thats not a problem. The problem we are having is finding a hotel to meet our needs. The 9-Zero hotel in Boston is perfect... but way out of our price range ($500/night). It offers pet friendly rooms, and a pet-sitting/day care for Dogs while the "parents" go sightseeing. We wish to bring Sheriff most places with us, but there are a few sights that don't allow dogs. Can anyone think of a hotel with a little more affordable rates? Or even a destination other than Boston that would have a hotel like the one listed above? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.
