Urinating on my bed!!!!

My puppy - a 5 month old spaniel/poodle mix - has decided in the last month or so that our bed is a good spot to urinate. I found wet spots on the bed three times so for the last week have cut off her access to the upstairs. No accidents. This morning my husband was upstairs with our three year old getting changed when the dog managed to get upstairs. She immediately ran into our room, jumped up on the bed and relieved herself right in front of him!!! He said they had only been upstairs for five minutes before this happened and while downstairs the dog had made no indication that she needed to go out (she usually rings a bell). Why would she be doing this? Could it have anything to do with the smell of the down filled duvet on our bed? Please, someone help!

The first thing to do is rule out bladder infection, even if you think she doesn't have one.

That is possible. The duvet could smell like wild birds to the dog. My dog peed on my bed a number of times after my niece slept there with her ferret. Obviously the smell of the ferret made her want to mark over it. After I laundered all the bedding, she never did it again.

Just keep her out of the bedroom, if that is the only place she does this. A baby gate works well for this.

I had a Sharpei that if she got pi$$ed off at me for some reason when she was young would jump on my bed and right in front of me squat and pee. With her it was a if she was not getting the attention she demanded so in her case it was a dominace issue.

As kids we had an english bull terrier, and he pissed on our pillows when we went away for weekends...just pissed (no pun intended) off at us...

if she's already spayed, it could be an estrogen problem... she'd need pills for that like Honey did a few months ago...

other than that, take her out to for her to relieve herself just before you just into bed. it MAY make a world of a difference.

did for HoneY!

I've told you all before that we've had 4 Den-Dens over the last 38 years. Going back in history, our Den-Den 2 was less than a year old when my hubby went to Vietnam for a year. When he came back, Den-Den was very possessive of me. He would pee on my hubby's pillow! Thank goodness hubby was pretty mellow, understanding, and an animal-lover too. He won Den-Den over eventually, although when he would occasionally get a little jealous, he would pee in his shoe. If I was in bed first and asleep, hubby always had to give him a tummy scratch first before getting into the bed to avoid a protest. It got to be a game and a routine. Story aside, maybe it's territorial.
