Abby steps out . . . .
After a few months of medical troubles and convalescence, Abby had her first long walk of the summer . . . . . and for that, Keeper was probably grateful to be left behind as this would have been way too much for her on a toasty day.
So, up to another visit to the Hailstone Butte Fire Station where Abby found a new friend, this six year-old pooch . . . ![]() . . . . . and this grizzled veteran of 30 summers of fire watching. We were here last Fall but found a lady here. But he's back after having some medical issues taken care of. The drop is fairly sheer. We come to this area winter and summer but this spot is too unsafe (avalanche) to come all the way in the winter. ![]() Abby troops the final leg up . . . . . out of the picture on the left, on another nearby hill, is lingering snow from the previous winter, at a lower altitude than this 7785 feet. ![]() Below, Abby on the descent. ![]() Below, a grassy resting spot. We were up above and to the right earlier. ![]() Below, the previous day, Abby and Keeper take a cool morning dip in Upper Kananaskis Lake. ![]() Below, a moose miss we found . . . ![]() Before that, Abby demonstrates something every prairie pooch needs to know . . . . . running under a barbed wire fence. When she first moved to country, Keeper ran right into a few and bounced off them. She still approaches fences with trepidation. Below, Keeper on her favourite lake walk . . . . ![]() Below, summer and the running is easy for Keeper and Abby ![]() Below, Abby asleep at home in the clover ![]() Rick C www.goldentales.ca

That last shot of Abby asleep
![]() Great pics as always, Rick! Where does the fire-watcher live in winter? He doesn't stay up there all year, does he?
