BSL All Across Ontario ATTORNEY GENERAL UPDATE

Well the Attorney General speaks!!

Without saying the exact above words there WILL be BSL not just pertaining to PBT's but he said MANY other breeds.

Today he is meeting with humane societies, trainers, owners and community members to discuss what exactly 'should' and 'shouldn't be put in this legislation.

He indicated ON CAMERA that he has increased concern about the actions of PBT's and other breeds.

Brace yourself folks, here it comes..... you know this is gonna be a WHOPPER!!!

Though indicated he rec'd many emails and complaints he says the majority of them were to BAN PBT's in Ontario.

However, he is now looking into legislation which covers many more breeds.

Your thoughts???

I wonder if they realize how many people that are gonna be terrifed of something like this and just dump their dogs off at shelters or have them euthanized for fear of being reported if they 'for instance' don't have their dog muzzled....because you can bet some breeds are going to be forced to be muzzled in public!!

This is just the beginning folks but let us not give up our fight!!

Itís a decision Attorney General Michael Bryant is trying to make, after meeting on Thursday with dog trainers, Humane Society personnel and victims of attacks by the canines. The lawmaker is trying to determine whether the breed should be banned in Ontario, after a series of highly publicized and vicious attacks.

Bryant asked for public input on the question, and current owners may not like what he heard. Of the more than 4,000 e-mails he received, the vast majority were pleading for an outright ban.

The problem of pit bull attacks in Ontario is more widespread, and "more urgent than we imagined in the first place," Attorney General Michael Bryant said Thursday.
Bryant met with victims of pit bull attacks as well as police, and dog owners and trainers in a hastily arranged meeting at the legislature to help him prepare legislation to deal with the dogs he once said "amounted to an assault weapon on four legs."
"This government is going to take action," he vowed.

TORONTO (CP) - The problem of pit bull attacks in Ontario is more widespread and "more urgent than we imagined in the first place," Attorney General Michael Bryant said Thursday as he vowed action to protect the public from the dogs.
"There's no doubt that there's got to be some level of restriction in terms of activity (and) mobility." he said

Among those invited to the meeting were three officials from Kitchener and one from Winnipeg, both of which have banned the dogs. Staff-Sgt. Bryan Larkin of the Waterloo Regional Police, Ward MacAlister of the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society and city legal counsel Jennifer Scheryer also attended, as well as Winnipeg animal control official Tim Dack.

A recent string of savage pit bull attacks in Ontario prompted Attorney-General Michael Bryant to call a meeting at Queens Park on Thursday to deal with the issue.

Mr. Bryant has said that a province-wide ban could help end the inconsistent collection of bylaws on the topic. He has also recommended that municipalities go ahead with the bans in the interim.

Aren't there just some days you wish you had stayed in bed?

Everyone that I know is BSL is fighting this tooth and nail. I don't know what else to do. It seems like Bryant has decided to ride the wave the media has created to get re-elected.

You have to stop and ask yourself, it says he has recieved some 4,000 e-mails and most have been in favor of a ban. So these people who are in favor of a ban, are they people who have even interacted with a pit bull at all or are they just buying into the media hype about dangerous dogs? I bet it is the latter.

I am deeply saddened and I think I am going back to bed. Maybe tomorrow this will be better. LOL!
