You can feel the love and devotion this vet has for Oscar. It brings tears to my eyes to see the interaction between Oscar's discovery and the pride of his savour.
Bless your hearts! God's speed Oscar. Thank you for this wonderful video.

This video seems to be a update, he has some new feeties and you can see how his locomotion has greatly improved!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmDqVN7vr8E&NR=1 Pretty cool technology which hopefully can be applied towards humans or other animals in the future. I guess not too many people can say all animal testing is bad now considering this guy was a "guinea pig" and seems to not mind one bit. Last edited by cell; June 29th, 2010 at 01:51 PM. |

I've seen some amputated athletes with those kind of limbs. They use them mostly for running.
I think it's amazing and just wonderful that Oscar was give the chance to live his life the same way he did before his accident.

the second set of feet are so much better, he seemed hunched up too much with the first set.

I hope that the new feet have shock absorption built into them since they just look like metal pegs, which would be attached to the pegs in his legs, that are fused to bone.
Although they look much better for walking, I don't imagine impact from jumping would feel good vibrating directly into the bone. eek. I'm sure his environment is controlled for jumping right now, but maybe some curved metal attachments similar to the amputee runners that have spring might be better as he starts to try more jumping.

The updated video does seem to be an improved foot, though it was right after surgery that Oscar first walked, and yes I think little curved springy ones would be even better and more catlike.
