sick lab

I have two dogs, one is three years old and the other is six months old. I recently moved to Texas but the gas didn't start until a week or two ago and now both dogs have gas. I switched food in hopes it would work and it has only been a few days so I know it is too soon to tell but now my older dog has started throwing up today, twice. I picked up the food from the older dog and only let the younger one eat and so far so good but it has only been an hour. I can't seem to figure out what might be causing the gas or loose stool... any ideas????

the stress of moving may have originally upset your puppers tummy, if you didn't do a gradual food switch that is definately going to give them the runs and upset tummies too. First off i'd take them to the vet to make sure it isn't something else. What food were you feeding and what did you switch them to.

A change of food could be what is giving them the gas. It could also be from a change of water.
Goldens are like potato chips, you can never have just one.

Hello Robinson, welcome to pets.ca .

Unfortunately, Purina One is not much better than the Beneful you were feeding previously . Both contain lots of corn which is very difficult for most dogs to digest, especially as they age. It could be the cause of the stomach upsets your dogs is experiencing.

Here are links describing both foods, the ingredients, and why they are not the best choices.

I recommend you peruse this website http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ and this one http://www.dogfoodproject.com/ (read the articles listed in teh left hand column). Both sites will arm you with information on how to read labels, what to stay away from, and what is good to feed your pet. Also, take a look at the dog food forum here.

Do you have a pet feed store other than a grocery store in your area? You'll find more variety of quality foods there.

Good luck. Hope your pup is feeling better soon .
