That is just gross

have to admit to a moron moment though... when I first read your comment about using dead animals, my first thought was "I hope so! live animals thrown in a grinder would be so mean!" lol, sometimes I really am an idiot

I give the company credit for OPENLY admitting to what goes into their food rather then hiding it as most companies do. No one can claim ignorance or ill informed decision making if this food is selected.
I don't see how it is disgusting they admit their meat source, since using rendered meat in pet food production is more common then people know or care to think about.
I would preffer all food companies were forced to include the source of the meat used in their food and the percentage of rendered meat.
The article states the rendering plant uses dead livestock which may have incurred some degree of nutritional loss due to degredation, this rendered meat source is still superior to some rendering sources that use euthanised animals, road kill and other randoms.
Since the article does not state what denaturants are added to the food research can't be looked into as to the effects of that denaturant, and if it is natural or not. With all the pet food scandels that have been happening, with plastics and chemicals being used to disguise protein content of food, choosing a food where you know where the protein source is from might still be better then ingredients that the company itself doesn't know the contents of.
It all comes down to consumer choice, people buy the food even knowing what goes into it, so it will still sell, but keeping consumers in the dark still sells more...
