Hi i'm a newbie

Hi everyone I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself.

I foster for a gsd rescue and I love doing it, I currently have a 3 yr old male that will hopefully be going to his forever home soon, he is my first foster and I know it will be so hard to let him go but that was my goal and then we can help other gsds that need good homes.

I have 2 dogs of my own and 2 cats that are very welcoming of any animals that we bring into our house.

I would love to hear other peoples rescue and fostering experiences

Welcome I have a English Mastiff who is a rescue. My previous kids were a Neapolitan Mastiff and the one before him was a Bloodhound all of these kids were rescues as well. I am hoping to adopt another Mastiff next year. Just trying to find a bigger space. I have been doing the rescue thing for about the last 14 years.

Thanks for the welcome!

I foster for GSRT you can check the site out at www.gsrt.net my boy is Jerry.

I go to the Quinte Humane quite often to drop off food or toys or whatever I can, they are all very nice there and sometimes I have to go take pics of gsds that might possibly go to the rescue if there is room.

I will post pics of my fur children when I figure out how

Beleive it or not these two girls are sisters, we adopted them from Spring Valley Shelter in Brighton Ontario, they are shep lab cross about 3 yrs old now. Currie dosn't take very good pics because her face is so dark she is the one in the back of the other pic.

They are the children I have never had, my babies my loves, and they adore their foster brother Jerry and like that he protects them from the noises in the night, strangers at the door or even a leaf blowing in the front yard (hehe)

When we got them I was looking for 2 gsds to adopt becuase that is the only breed of dog I have ever had and I just love the breed so much but when I met them they stole my heart and I took them home. I still wanted my gsd so I decided to become a foster for a rescue that way I could help gsds in need and care for them untill they found their forever home

Toonces the Driving Cat

Hi Toonces, welcome! (Do you have a driving cat?)
I'm Tracey and I currently have 8 foster cats. 7 kittens and a semi-feral mom. Kittens will be leaving soon but mom is up in the air right now.

I've been to Spring Valley - just last summer when we were looking to adopt another dog. Quite the place there. They certainly love their animals.

OHH I am so glad you got it! most people just think his name is weird!

Spring Valley is a wonderful shelter, Sandra is such a doll and she loves the animals sooooo much! We have boarded our 2 there since the adoption and they loves going because they know they will be totally spoiled with love and cookies, she always has blankets and toys in the run for them and their names on the outside with little hearts around them.

Its awesome of you to foster those cats and I hope mommy wil get a home soon, what exactly is a feral cat? I have heard the term lots but don't know what it is

gsds usually are very compasionate dogs and are so devoted to their masters feelings and well being, I adore them for their strong personality and loyality.

She sounds like a very special girl

I love her,and you are right about gsd mine was a little to strong willed, smart beyond what a dog should be...She is the most incredible lady, what she does is just incredible,i dont know how she does it,she usually has about 13 dogs,it is madness there, but such a nice thing to see,all these dogs getting another chance.

The lady I foster for is wonderful also, she has 17 dogs right now in foster care and more waiting in line for foster homes. The love and devotion she has for these dogs is amazing and even though I have never met her in person we can chat on the phone like we are old friends. We live 3 hrs apart so when i applied to foster she sent another rescue worker from this area to do the home check.

She is always there when I need her for doggy advice or just to vent about anything. What she does is a very selfless act and God will have a special place for her I am sure
