Worried about Quincy..

Sir Quincy seems to be off his food. We cook him chicken, tried duck and potato, eggs and even cat food.( Just to tempt him ) He just eats a little then backs off his dish. Really weird. His poop is fine and he not throwing up. Quit eating his cookies so now we give him begging strips. So this has been going on for a week. Just a fussy eater now? He used to love his food. So I am thinking he is off to the vet this week for a check up.

Am taking Quincy in for a renal check. Same symptoms as Shayker had when she was diagnosed. Worry time for me, I can't face this sickness again...Lack of appetite and drinking more water. I hope it is just a urine infection. He peed on the floor twice tonight. He never does that.

Yes I am totally freaked right now....

Awww, Shaykeija, I am so sorry to hear that Quincy is not feeling well.

A vet check is definitely in order and I hope all goes well.

Please don't feed him the Beggin Strips though ....they have nasty ingredients.

yea I know, but that is the only thing that he likes right now for a treat. He just gets one split in two, twice a day.

Because he's drinking lots of water and starting to urinate in places he's never done so before; I'd say that yes - he's stressed out. Sorry to hear that, I know it's stressful on you as the owner too.

How old is Quincy? If he's into his 'elder years', it's not really uncommon for this kind of non-interest in food to start taking place. I'm sure your vet will have some more suggestions for you once he looks at Quincy. Keep us posted!

This is a long shot but is something clanging on his dish that might be frightening him? Perhaps try feeding him on a plate or something totally different? Is he at all competitive with food (will he eat if the other dogs are close by)? I think a vet visit is definately a good idea .

Hugs and good luck, hopefully he is just feeling a bit under the weather.

it is just a urine infection
Could also be more than one thing at the same time ie urine infection plus turning 2 so he's maturing & his metabolisim is outta whack - slowing down from puppyhood

Well he ate this morning. And he is sleeping on my foot right now. I was thinking, we usually use 1/2 cup water with 2 meals.(1 cup total for the day) Last night we fed him canned food and he didn't get the water in his food. Maybe he was just thirsty. Am calling the vet tomorrow morning to set him up for some blood and urine tests for this week.

Tell him he is welcome to share with the pups.

My DH gets sucky when the cats get better treatment than him.

Glad to hear that Quincy ate a bit today! Yes.....cooking for puppies instead of cooking for hubby can cause some tension. Tell hubby that anything the doggies eat is good for humans too and to chow down!

If Quincy stops eating again....try a bit of baby food....the pureed chicken was a favorite with Harley.

Hope Quincy keeps improving through the night!

LOL ....I think alot of men are like that.

Mine is forever saying "those dogs/cats (whichever it applies to at the time) eat better than I do" or "you treat those dogs/cats better than you do me" or "why am I always at the bottom of the totem pole". I just tell him that if he appreciated me as much as they do then maybe he'd get more treats.

Glad Quincy ate this morning and hope everything checks out okay at the vet.

Update on Quincy

Quincy is fine....Seems the royal Shih Tzhu does not like his food mixed with chicken broth. Must be bottled water only....that is why he would not eat and was drinking more. And he is a salmon snack piggy lol.

Happy to hear everything is good with Quincy now

Did the chicken broth have a bit of salt in it? That could've cause the excess drinking.

Are you still taking him in for tests this week? Might be good just incase, plus you will have a good report for reference

I'm glad he's fine. LOL, yeah we spoil them and then wonder why they get so picky.

Glad everything is testing out normal! Is he pretty much back to his old self now, Shaykeija?
