Let's start with these:

They're having a baby and don't want the dog to attack it
They just had a baby and think it's allergic
They are getting married and future husband/wife is allergic
They just became allergic
They are moving and where they are going doesn't allow pets
They are losers who just don't have want to make the time to take care of their pet and decided he should be someone else's responsibility.

I doubt it though...the ad didn't specify, but I bet it was a lame excuse.

I was at the pet store picking up some food and this lady was asking to put up an ad to give away her cat because she led a busy lifestyle and the cat always seemed to be underfoot...she found it annoying...hmmm...the pet store told her no and that she should perhaps re-think her selfishness! I was laughing...oh, the look she gave me!!!
