Exclamation Loving Family Needed for Abandoned Dog

This little girl is a genuine sweetheart - the original "love me" dog. She is about 5 years of age, lab cross, has impeccable manners and gets along great with young children, dogs and cats. She likes to play and will quickly become a velcro dog. She needs her forever home before she gets too attached here. We are located in Oakville, ON - can you help? 905-469-9060.

Red face Oakville, Ontario

Hi Lauriem - thank you for your interest. This little girl was abandoned north of Newmarket and taken in by a gentleman. However, he works 18 hour days and doesn't have the time she deserves. She has come to our house in Oakville to foster and I really want to find her a forever home before she gets attached here and feels like she is being shuffled. She really is a great family pet and very obedient. As you can see by the picture she is a shepherd cross however there is NO shepherd to her except the colouring. She is lab through and through. She cuddles with my 4 year old and plays with my 8 year old, follows our other dog around and even snuggles with the cat. However, she is beginning to get attached to me and I must have some pretty serious surgery next month. I'd hate to think of her going off to the pound - she really doesn't deserve it. Do you think you can help?

I'll be happy to put this girl on my Petfinder site. I'm sure she'll get a home.

Would you rather just have your email on the listing?

Let me know!

LuckyRescue - that would be awesome. Anything we can do to give this cuddle girl a good home would be VERY appreciated by us. What do I do?

Just give me your email addy and I'll take care of it.

You just HAVE to let me know when she gets adopted so I can take the listing down.

Do you know if she's spayed? Can you see any scar on her belly? Very important, as I cannot list intact animals.

Are you going to keep her until she is adopted?

I'll give her a name too if she doesnt' have one.

Thumbs up vkarstens@cogeco.ca

Thanks LuckyRescue - my email is vkarstens@cogeco.ca. We will keep her until she finds a good home - however, she HAS to find one before my surgery August 19th (I will be ill for several months). If we don't, I simply don't know what to do!

Sorry to hear about your surgery.

I really need to know if she is spayed. I will list her for now, and maybe you could ask the last person who had her if she came into heat during that time?

Hi there,

I hope everything works out with your surgery!
This may be a really really long shot, but the photo of the dog rang a bell. Is her ear always up like that? In the winter, there were postings for a lab/shepherd cross with an ear like that. She was lost around Bathurst + Steeles. I did a little research and found a posting on the canadastrays.com website. This is the link:

http://www.canadastrays.com/search/d...ov=ON&type=dog
If the link doesn't work, I'll email it to you.
Like I said, it's a long shot, but you might want to check it out.
Good luck - she seems really sweet!

Good luck - she seems really sweet!

I have posted on three other websites that I found addresses on here and have received many emails on this lovable girl. I am quite excited. I thought it would be a long and agonizing process but it is amazing how many people out their have open hearts. Unfortunately Sami is not Ziggy - they emailed me and I checked. They lost their dog last December and Sami was found - definitely abandoned - last summer. By the way - Sami is spayed and UTD on shots.

Funny story to tell here - I went out with the children and when I came home both dogs were in the house. My neighbour across the street came to call and told me this story. The road directly across from us has a couple of houses with children the same age as our children and come to play. It seems that I forgot to close the mudroom door when I went out and Sami left, went down the road and sat down with the children to watch them play. After a while our GSD went out. He is trained not to cross the road so that he stood at the curb and barked to Sami and she came trotting home. Our GSD then took her back into the house and that is where I found them both when I got home. What a babysitter! What a wonderful foster girl!

Sami is going to make amazing company for some lucky person(s).

Thanks for your support all - I will be sure to keep you posted as it looks like she will find a home very soon.

I hope the other family finds Ziggy and I truly hope that Sami finds a home. She sounds like such a sweet girl!
Good Luck!

Thumbs up Gone to a Fabulous Home

Sami has found an incredible new home with a nurse, her doctor husband, and a cat. They lost their dog recently to cancer and their daughter is a vet! I think she has a better home there than she did with us, having to share attention with other animals and children. There she gets all the attention herself and is responding positively. She has been so busy that she has not pined or moped once. Thank you soooo much for all your help in finding this wonderful dog a great home!

Good news!

If Sami got her home from my Petfinder site, tell the new owners they are entitled to 2 months free vet care.
