blood and vomit

Recently i discovered that my cat pepper has been bleeding while urinating. My family says that this is a common thing but I'm not so sure. Also she has been throwing up more frequently. I traced that back to the stale canned food she was being fed but now I'm not so sure. My question is are the two related in any way or is this more serious then I realise?
Regards, Liz

As for the bleeding,it could be serious, add vomiting and I think you have a sick cat.She needs to see a vet and soon.
Bleeding while urinating is not a common thing and frequent vomiting is also not common, cats do at times vomit, after eating grass or having hair-balls,but not frequently,so please take her to a vet before she gets worse.

Let me see, what would I do if this were my cat...

Would I......spend time pondering about it on the internet asking all kinds of questions to non vet people who can't see my cat and do not have the diagnostic equipment to determine the cause of bleeding. Meanwhile the condition could be getting worse, the cat could be suffering and Geeze for the life of me can't seem to figure out if I should go to a vet?

OK, blood in pee sounds pretty bad, but vomiting together is worse. And feeding cats stale cat food would probably not be the problem.

Take the cat to a vet. It sounds like you have a seriously ill cat.

Blood in the urine is no more "common" for a cat than it would be for you. Some causes that come to mind are kidney stones, bladder infection, cancer...who knows?

The vet is the person who can tell you. I suggest you go ASAP unless you want a dead cat on your hands.
