A leopard frog appeared today

I've never seen one of these in my 23 years at this house. I've only ever seen them at the cottage. I was happy to see this little fellow in the pond this evening.

Frogs will eat anything they can see move. I doubt that he'd eat any of the baby fish unless they got stranded on top of a water lily pad and were flopping around. I've had bullfrogs here before and they never ate any of the fish and of course they're a whole lot bigger than these guys.
I hope I see this little fellow again. I'd love it if more of them came.

Cindy

Wow, we have tons of those here. When I was a kid, I caught like 55 of those and put them into a big bucket. I thne let them all go in my yard when it was time to go in the house, it looked like my grass was jumping. LOL

Haha, those are exciting for you? They are all over the place around my house. Cute froggy though. Neat how you could get close enough to take a picture. As soon as I step within about 20 feet of the frogs around here they hop into the water!!

They've stopped them from being used as fish bait so I'm sure that's why they must be on the rebound. The last few years my parents had their cottage the population had declined badly.
Amazing that I've never seen them here. Even with the flood plain that runs in the fields behind my place. I hope this is a good sign for them.

How could you resist planting a kiss on top of that cute little nose? I love frogs ...we hear them all the time around here cuz there's a 20 acre wetland just to the south of our property, but I've never been able to spot one in all the times I've looked

They can't overwinter in your pond, can they, Cindy? So he must've gone by now?

It's good to hear that the frogs seem to be doing better, at least in parts of Canada!
