Excitement for the morning!
Well I took the day off today to get some stuff done and had an early morning wake up call! Around 6:45 this morning I woke up to this horrible noise that sounded like a jet passing by the bedroom window! it continued on and proceeded to sound like something releasing a lot of pressure...kind of like a shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nooise but really loud. Couldnt figure out what it was so goy up to start my day. It went on for at least an hour too!!
About 8:30 I go in the shower....I can here Winston going crazy barking...I thought someone was at the door! DH was home today too so I figured he would answer it..I get out, quickly throw some clothes on, towel warpped around my head and open up the bathroom door only to greet a FIREMAN!!!  my heart dropped and around the corner comes DH holding Winston away from the FIREMAN..There is construction a few doors down and that noise I was hearing was the GAS LINE!!!!!!!! they ripped the top of a gas line off!! he had to come in so he could test the house for Gas..asked us to shut the windows for an hour and everything should be fine....and then left....outside there like 5 more fireman...waiting for the all clear. Well they shut off the gas and we are still waiting for them to turn it back on! Gosh it would have been nice if I had a gas stove cause then I would have an excuse to not cook supper!!!!!!!

Omg how scary! Just last week, a womans house blew up in Calgary from a gas line leak, thankfully nobody was killed.
Glad you and your house are still intact!  Thankfully you didn't get up and light up a ciggy!

Actually they just tuned it back on! the lady that came said it took them 3 hours to get the broken gas line shut off! she explained that they need to go looking for certain valves and she was so mad she couldnt find them..she ended up using a machine they have that detects metal and found it buried in someones front lawn..
I guess I know what a broken gas line sounds like! it was loud! I guess she is in for some overtime tonight!

Actually I couldnt tell too well he was wearing a mask!! he was a youngin thats for sure!! the two old buggers outside werent too frendly...DH hubby said to them when they knocked on the door to give him a second to put Winston away! the old guy says "yeah! sounds like you better do that!"

Its kind of weird cause there are still a lot of gas trucks hanging around!

Well I think I scared him enough cause I pulled the towel off my head and that was even worse! curls everywhere! I think he might have been a tad embarrassed! not more than me though!!!
normally I would walk out like that too but! Winston had been barking already and the bathroom is in view of the front door!! would have like to have seen his face then!!

Never had oil before! I looked at alot of houses that still had it! What does it cost for oil?

If I want to pay per month , I have to take a contract with the oil company. And I don't want to sign any contracts. The one that was presented to me by a rep , was pretty darn expensive , they make you pay the max , and refund you by the end of the year if needed. I can't afford that.

Winston - for us to get oil last year it cost between 1600 to 1900 a tank. That would last us between 3 weeks to a month. It will be worse this year because of prices. I don't even want to hazard a guess! We don't have the option to switch over to gas. No gas line here. The only thing we could do is go electric and that would be costly too. We are stuck.

OMG, how scary that must have been! Home heating oil is litterally "Black Gold" with the price of it now. I have no choice but to heat with oil or electric too.
